When a business wants to work with the London insurance market, one question comes up early: can you show independent proof that you take security seriously? For StrataLens, we helped answer it in a week.
The challenge
StrataLens is building a data layer for the London insurance market, where insurers and brokers expect suppliers to demonstrate independent security assurance before any data is shared. Security had been built into the business from the start, but the StrataLens founder knew that clients would want evidence from an independent party rather than a company’s own word.
StrataLens wanted three certifications: Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus and IASME Cyber Assurance Level 1. Just as importantly, they wanted a single provider who could take them through all three, rather than juggling several.
- Certification 1Cyber Essentials
- Certification 2Cyber Essentials Plus
- Certification 3IASME Cyber Assurance Level 1
How we approached it
At Fig, compliance is what we do. We’re a UK-based cyber security and compliance specialist, and we deliver a range of certifications, including Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, Cyber Assurance and Defence Cyber Certification, for businesses of all sizes. Our approach is simple: make it clear, make it quick, and never leave the customer guessing.
Enquiry through the website
StrataLens got in touch through the Fig Group website, and we agreed a path forward the same afternoon.
The full route, set out up front
Instead of a generic reply, we laid out the three standards in the order they would be tackled, what each stage required and the costs, so the team knew what they were committing to before they started.
Fast answers at every stage
Every stage was explained up front and questions were answered within hours.
A thorough, efficient audit
Our Cyber Essentials Plus audit was thorough and efficient, so all three certifications could be completed without delay.
Our focus throughout was to keep the process simple and the pace high.
The outcome
With independent certification in place, StrataLens can now answer clients’ supplier security questionnaires with evidence rather than assurances. This gives StrataLens evidence to support due diligence with insurers and brokers and lets conversations with prospective clients move on faster.

“Fig Group made a demanding process straightforward. They were clear about what each standard required, quick to respond, and took StrataLens from first enquiry to Cyber Essentials Plus and IASME Cyber Assurance Level 1. I’d recommend them to any business that needs to show its clients it takes security seriously.”
